Essential Health Benefits are the minimum coverage requirements for all Marketplace health plans. While plans may offer additional benefits, every plan must include the following:

- Ambulatory Patient Services – Outpatient care without hospital admission.
- Emergency Services – Coverage for urgent medical situations.
- Hospitalization – Inpatient care, surgeries, and overnight stays.
- Maternity & Newborn Care – Prenatal, delivery, and postnatal care.
- Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Services – Including behavioral health treatment, counseling, and therapy.
- Prescription Drugs – Coverage for necessary medications.
- Rehabilitative & Habilitative Services and Devices – Support for injuries, disabilities, and chronic conditions to regain or improve abilities.
- Laboratory Services – Diagnostic tests and screenings.
- Preventive & Wellness Services & Chronic Disease Management – Preventive care, vaccinations, and disease management programs.
- Pediatric Services – Including dental and vision care for children.
All Essential Health Benefits must be covered with no annual limits or lifetime maximums under the ACA.
